Assembly 36 receives Kellar award for membership growth 2013

SAM National has recognized Assembly 36 with a certificate for membership growth reflecting leadership in this important area.

Jon Racherbaumer, resident professional, archivist and club historian, was surprised, but pleased to see this recognition for the New Orleans area Assembly “We are taking small steps toward our rebuild since Katrina”  he said in a recent interview. “This recognition is the result of a long term strategy to grow our club.”  Assembly 36 moved into fabulous new meeting facilities known as Mystere Mansion in January of 2013. Its an event space that was a mortuary. Renovated several years ago, the current owner is a magic enthusiast. He invited Assembly 36 to make a home there for most months of the year (excluding Halloween and Christmas when the facility is transformed to holiday mode for the public). It houses several theaters, a Seance room and a magic parlor.  Working magicians on the lecture circuit agree that it is one of the most exciting magic venues in the country. New members are impressed with the meeting space and stage for post meeting performances.  Other improvements hailed by members include shorter meeting times and mini lectures with show and teach for all in attendance.
